LGBTQ Lunar New Year Dinner 2026

Asians and Friends Chicago hosts ‘Year of the Horse’ celebration on Sat., March 7, 2026

CHICAGO—It’s off to the races with the Year of the Horse and Asians and Friends Chicago (AFC), which proudly announces the details of the city’s only LGBTQ Lunar New Year Dinner and Performance. The social group will be hosting members of the city’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered and queer (LGBTQ) community and allies on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Furama Restaurant, 2nd Floor, West Hall, 4936 N. Broadway, in Chicago at 6:30 p.m.

Highlighting the evening will be a raffle and special performances by AFC members based on the rumbling energy of a stampede of horses. The evening will feature horse-themed décor, a highly visual and upbeat musical review and multiple courses of Cantonese and Mandarin cuisine.

“Chicago is one of the country’s most supportive cities when it comes to the LGBTQ community,” said John McInteer, president, Board of Directors, for AFC. “To that end, Asians and Friends Chicago is proud to be part of that support system, hosting this particular cultural celebration and focusing on horse-related themes of energy, freedom and perseverance.”

Tickets are $50/presale online until Friday, March 6, 2026, and $60 at the door (if tickets are still available). To purchase tickets, visit AFC’s website at http://afchicago.org. Click the “AFC Shop” tab on the toolbar and scroll to the “Events & Merch” option.

Special raffle donations coming from Atmosphere, Lucky Horseshoe, Max’s Place, North End and Touche.

Since its founding in 1984, AFC has served the LGBTQ Asian community and its allies by offering members social opportunities to celebrate Asian cultures and meet people of similar backgrounds and interests. AFC is a proud 2010-2011 inductee of the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame, a two-time winner for Best Organization in the Chicago Gay Pride Parade, hosts of IFCON 2016 Chicago and named of Chapter of the Year 2022 by the International Friendship Association.
