Pre-Pride and Pride Parade Activities: Our Pre-Pride Party will be at John and Kevin’s place from noon-4 p.m. on Sat. June 23, 1430 S. Michigan Ave., PH1. Just look for Lump or Thammavong on the door director to get buzzed in.
For Pride Sun., June 24, our float No. is 19. We’ll be positioned at 10 a.m. on N. Broadway just south of Wilson and north of Montrose. If you want to join us, our theme is Your Ethnicity. Be there not later than 11:30 a.m. The parade starts at noon. Note that the Pride Committee prohibits open containers of alcohol. Afterwards, we’ll be having a potluck at @mosphere bar, 5355 N. Clark in Andersonville (Chicago) from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Happy Pride!
My name is Antonio King. I am a Public Health Administrator and the LGBTQ Health and Outreach Liaison for the Chicago Department of Public Health.
In my responsibility as LGBTQ Health and Outreach Liaison, I ensure that we at the Chicago Dept. of Public Health (CDPH), fulfill our commitment to enhance the well-being of LGBTQ residents in Chicago, including equitable health care delivery. The LGBTQ Health & Outreach program addresses related quality of life issues, such as: unemployment, housing, safety, bullying, domestic and intimate partner violence and other quality of life challenges that ultimately affect the health of the LGBTQ community. We also address high rates of smoking and obesity, challenges that LGBT persons have in accessing care and other direct health concerns.
I would very much like to meet with someone from Asian Friends Chicago, to discuss how we may support the efforts and activities of AFC. Historically, is does not seem that CDPH has partnered or participated with the Asian LGBTQ constituents and I am moving to change that perception.
