Thanks to everyone who came and donated to our May 21, #AsianLove: Night of Glory Fundraiser. It was a total success! Now, to begin construction on our Asians & Friends Chicago Pride Float 2022, we’re starting a month of gatherings beginning this Sat., June 4 at 2 p.m. at Michael N.’s place, 4239 S. Langley in Chicago. We’ll do bits and pieces of Pride Float construction each Saturday in June thereafter, so the 11th, the 18th and the 25th, all at 2 p.m. at Michael’s. Bring snacks or drinks but be prepared to do what’s needed for the day. Don’t be afraid to come to just once or all of the float construction dates. We welcome one and all.
And then of course, there’s our first-Sunday-of-the-month Dim Sum this Sun., June 5 at 12:30 p.m. at Furama 4936 N. Broadway in Chicago, 2nd floor landing. We’ll meet as usual and split up into tables of 10. Each table will split the cost of the meal. Then we’ll travel west to SoFo Tap where we’ll get a beverage. The address is 4923 N. Clark and we should be there by 2 or 2:30 p.m.
Pride Parade day is, of course, on Sun., June 26. Let Angel know if you would like to march with the float this year (AngelChgo@aol.com), we’re having everyone meet around 10 (place is TBD). Also, we’ll be having a post-Parade thank-you celebration at @mosphere Bar, 5355 N. Clark in Chicago, starting around 3:30 p.m. or whenever you can make it up north. Bring snacks to share.
And you can still order “#AsianLove” T-Shirts that have “Love” in several Asian languages and multiple color choices. We’re asking that any marchers with our float wear the T-shirts. It’s $20 with a portion of the proceeds going to our AFC Pride events. Here’s the link: https://asianlovechicago.bigcartel.com.
Thanks and see you soon.
