A new exhibit featuring the history of Filipino nurses in Chicago will kickoff its “artifact” finding drive at the closing ceremony for The Halo-Halo Project, a Filipino culture and art exhibit currently at the Harold Washington Library, 400 S. State in Chicago. Members of the Filipino American National Historical Society Greater Chicago Chapter (FANHSC) will be there to talk about the upcoming nurses’ exhibit, set to debut at the International Museum of Surgical Sciences in May of 2026. AFC member Angel A. is a lead coordinator of the new FANHSC exhibit. It will evolve from a smaller version of the display that he created for the Halo-Halo Project.

Angel will lead live tours of the Halo-Halo Project from 2-4 p.m. Sat., Jan. 17, 2026, as part of the closing festivities for the exhibit. The Halo-Halo Project had its official opening ceremony on Oct. 2, 2025. A post-closing reception will be held at Pancho’s Rooftop Cantina, 327 S. Plymouth, just north of the library with drinks starting at 3:30 p.m. on Sat., Jan. 17. Contact Angel at AngelChgo@gmail.com to RSVP for the post-tour activities at Pancho’s.
