Among Gays and Lesbians, Study Finds Ethnic and Economic Diversity

A new study shows gays and lesbians to be more ethnically and economically
\ndiverse than is commonly believed; Blacks and Latinos were the most
\ncomfortable with their gay identity.<\/p>\n
GAYS SURPRISINGLY DIVERSE, STUDY FINDS<\/p>\n
To judge from the images on network television and corporate advertising,
\nlesbians and gay men share the same demographic niche: affluent, educated,
\nurban – and usually white.<\/p>\n
Wrong, wrong, wrong and wrong, says a new national demographic study that
\nsuggests lesbians and gays are more likely to be older, \u201cresponsible\u201d
\nsuburbanites sharing a mortgage payment and listening to country music than
\nyoung turks partying in the Castro or Chelsea.<\/p>\n
