Pictured here is “Obama’s Star,” the first of several hand-crafted ornaments (with a new one revealed each week on AFC’s blog) to be raffled off at the upcoming Asians and Friends Chicago Holiday Dinner, Sat., Dec. 13, 2008 at Riques Regional Mexican Restuarant, 5004 N. Sheridan, just south of Big Chicks in Chicago. The festivities will start at 7 p.m. and dinner service will be at 7:30 p.m. Starter beer and wine will be provided. The restaurant is BYOB. “Obama’s Star” was crafted by AFC Board Member Dat Nguyen to commemorate the historic election of Barack Obama to the presidency of the United States. “He is a person of integrity and intelligence and he will do well as the country’s president. If you ask me, he will ‘shine.’ That’s why he’s a star.”
